“The GX e5550N offers customers outstanding office productivity,” explains Robert Brown, Product Manager at Ricoh UK. “The first colour print is ready in only five seconds, it prints up to 30 pages per minute and has a high paper capacity of 1,350 sheets with options. Duplex printing is standard, at 70 percent of simplex printing speed. All these features, plus low power consumption, combine to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership.”
The GX e5550N prints with the highest quality thanks to the advantages of Ricoh’s Gel Sprinter™ technology. Liquid Gel™ produces sharp images and lively colours. It dries quickly, so prints do not smudge, and is water- and light-resistant for up to 100 years.
For fast, cost-effective printing of office documents with mixed text and images, the GX e5550N features a unique ECOnomy Color mode. Unlike an inkjet’s draft mode, ECOnomy Color distinguishes between text and image. Text is printed in crisp, solid black, while the thickness of images and graphics is reduced by half. It results in perfectly legible, low-cost, business documents in colour. In ECOnomy Color mode, colour prints cost virtually the same as black and white, thereby reducing Total Cost of Ownership. The cost efficiency of the GX e5550N is further boosted by high yield cartridges.
Minimal energy consumption reduces the GX e5550N’s impact on the environment. With duplex printing as standard, paper consumption is also reduced. Some components are made from plant-based plastic, further enhancing the printer’s environmental credentials.
The GX e5550N is easy to use and maintain. Users can read the tilting operation panel while seated. Reloading paper and cartridges is straightforward due to full front accessibility. Users can also receive e-mail alerts when an intervention is required, for example to refill toner or paper. The printer is equipped with a counter function that records pages printed in each mode and sends the information by e-mail. This enables administrators to easily keep track of the printer’s use and monitor users’ print costs.
The Aficio™GX e5550N is the latest addition to Ricoh’s advanced range of digital office equipment. Ricoh currently manufactures one of the most extensive line-ups of printers, copiers, faxes and multifunctional devices, as well as advanced software solutions.

About Ricoh UK
Ricoh designs, develops and manufactures a complete range of print and document management, hardware, software and services which are tailored to meet individual customer needs. Its devices print, copy, scan and fax documents as an integrated part of the IT network and enterprise content management system. Software is used to audit usage, manage document flows, simplify business processes, control print expenditure and secure access. The company takes an innovative approach to research and development, having invented the first digital black & white copier and introducing the colour-capable device.
Ricoh established an Environmental Protection Office in 1976, and has been striving to minimise the effect of its activities on the environment ever since. Ricoh UK’s environmental credentials are second to none; it operates a zero-waste policy at all of its manufacturing plants and is investing in carbon reduction technologies to reduce the environmental impact of its operations rather than merely offsetting its carbon footprint. The company operates a dedicated ‘Green Centre’, where old machines are re-commissioned and recycled in line with WEEE Directive guidelines and accredited with ISO14001:2004 for environmental management. Ricoh has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard that requires an organisation to measure, manage and reduce its carbon footprint and, for the fifth consecutive year, has also been named as one of the "Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World" by the World Economic Forum in Davos.
